Did you know I make house calls?

Are you a new parent and forgot what it was like to sleep for more than two hours at a time? Do you find it hard to imagine what even leaving the house would look like, let alone get ready and travel to your scheduled studio newborn photos?

While I love a studio session, I also remember what it was like during those first few weeks of being a new mom and then the second time around with TWINS!

I was not in the mindset to get everyone loaded up to get photos done and I had some pretty extensive healing to do. Our photographer who is also our cousin and is amazing offered to come to our home both times to do in-home newborn photos. They were more lifestyle focused than the posed newborn photos you typically think of, but they represented exactly what was going on with our family at the time. I love them. (Also love her and she is a-ma-zing)

So when I started doing newborn sessions, I knew I wanted to make it as easy as possible on momma and baby! (And dad too because he’s just as tired!)

I have in-home studio style ready and available for the more classic newborn and maternity sessions, but my clients also have the ability to combine those adorable classic poses, and some lifestyle photos of their family with their new little bundle in the home. What better memories to look back on and be able to say, “oh my goodness remember how crazy those first few weeks were and how much love and care went into this nursery?” Photos are all about capturing memories and I love doing so in the place where you create the best ones with your family!

If you are considering having newborn photos done but don’t think that you would be able to make it out to a studio so early on, an in-home session is a great option for you! And if you think you need a Pinterest ready home in order to have an in-home session- think again! Mainly all I need is a window with decent light coming through and we are golden. If you do not have that, I can also bring lighting options.

In my most recent newborn family session, we set baby up right next to the north facing window for a morning session. This gave amazing light on her and hardly any extra lighting was required.

For the family shots, I was able to grab a few gorgeous back-lit photos right next to the window that ended up looking like studio shots anyways!

For the more lifestyle poses, we were able to get some sweet family shots in front of the crib that the family will cherish forever.

Babies also tend to be much more comfortable in your home and you can control their morning sleep and feeding patterns much easier, making the sessions a breeze. This little princess slept through her entire session!

Take a look at this adorable little girl and rethink your idea of in-home newborn photos!

These adorable headbands were purchased from amazon and fit newborns amazingly! So soft and stretchy! You can buy them here.
