Dahlonega Georgia Milestone Photographer- Ivy’s One Year Studio Cake Smash Session
Robin and her husband Adam have been long time clients of mine. We worked together on Robin’s maternity session, baby Ivy’s newborn session, and they came in for Christmas Santa pictures this year as well. In fact, we started talking about Ivy’s one year cake smash right after Christmas! I always ask my clients first to see if they have any theme ideas for their special session, and Robin really wanted to do an extra add on and do a wild one wildflower theme! I was more than happy to oblige and had the perfect client closet options for both Ivy and Robin to wear! She also ordered a custom cake from my very favorite vendor Jamie Bakes.
We decided to stick with the flower theme for the whole session, so we started out with a neutral backdrop in the back room with Ivy in a wooden box decorated with wild flowers. For these photos Ivy wore flowered bloomer shorts and a flower crown. We got a lot of fun poses of Ivy standing, sitting, and some detail shots. Ivy wasn’t super smiley but she was giving the most fun sassy faces, so she was absolutely adorable. Then we brought Robin and Adam in and got some precious family photos. For these photo Robin and Adam kept it casual in jeans and white tops.
We changed Ivy into a sage green romper and matching headband and we moved over to one of my flowered rugs and put out a smoky pink box for her to play in. We took some more family pictures then we moved to the front room for some lifestyle pictures. Grandma was able to tag along to the session, so we got some really cute photos of her and Ivy and some more solo and family pictures. Next we changed Ivy into a smoky pink tutu dress and we got some great photos of Ivy in the peacock chair in front of my new flowered wall!
Finally it was time for the cake. We changed Ivy one more time into a wildflower covered dress and flower headband and we took a few family photos with Robin in a flower dress from my client closet that I picked out especially for her to wear on this day. We put Ivy in my vintage highchair and placed the cake in front of her. At first she wasn’t too sure, but she dug in and got right down to work on dismantling the cake. She even let Adam and Robin in on the action and we were able to get some cute pictures of them together also! Ivy still wasn’t big on the smiles, but that didn’t mean she wasn’t giving great faces! However, I finally got a grin out of her before we finished.
Robin and Adam loved the photos so much, they couldn’t resist buying three albums, two 24x24 collages, two 16x16 framed canvases and a matted tri-fold to match one they got at Christmas.
